L.B. Houston is a flat, tree-lined golf course. The trek features 4 par threes with tee shots that must carry water.

The course was designed by Leon Howard and Dave Bennett, who faced the task of converting 200 acres of the Trinity River bottoms into a golf course.

The designers created 11 lakes and ponds on the course, and used the land fill to elevate the greens and tees. They also crowned the fairways so the rain would drain into the rough.
